Deputy Secretary-General of MWL in Mecca: Cambodia is a Model Country in Ensuring National and Religious Harmony

On the morning of February 27, 2025, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Saeed Al-Majdouai, Deputy Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) in Mecca, at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Deputy Secretary-General expressed profound gratitude to Samdech Borvor Thipadei for the opportunity to meet. He also thanked Cambodia for its hospitality towards him and his delegation attending the Islamic Summit under the theme: “Islam and Buddhism.” His Excellency the Deputy Secretary-General further expressed his delight at revisiting Cambodia and highly valued the country’s rapid development across all sectors, particularly in the fields of economy and education. He emphasized that this progress has garnered growing international attention. Additionally, he highlighted Cambodia as a model country on the global stage for ensuring national and religious harmony.

In response, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei welcomed His Excellency the Deputy Secretary-General and the delegation for their participation in the summit and highly appreciated the organization of this significant event in Cambodia for the first time. He underscored that Cambodia respects and values religious diversity. The Royal Governments of Cambodia in previous legislatures, including the Seventh Legislature of the National Assembly, have consistently prioritized ensuring harmonious coexistence among religions in Cambodian society. Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei stressed the crucial role of religion in educating citizens and promoting a peaceful, stable, and progressive society. He also noted that in the digital era, religion plays an increasingly vital role in education, particularly in Cambodia, where it has significantly contributed to instilling human values, ethics, and virtue and to building good citizens for the country.
